Job Description

Position Overview Foreman needed to lead a field crew on road, site, wet utility, and/or structural concrete projects for municipal clients across Maryland, D.C., Northern Virginia, and Delaware. Hands-on leadership of safe, high-quality, productive daily work. Report to Superintendent; supervise crew of typically 6–12 workers. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise crew performing wet utility installation (water mains, sanitary sewer, storm drain, fittings, valves, hydrants, manholes) and/or structural concrete work (barriers, retaining walls, flatwork, foundations, formwork, placement, finishing).
  • Interpret plans, profiles, cut sheets, and specs; verify grades, alignments, and elevations with lasers, levels, or GPS.
  • Enforce trench safety (competent-person, shoring/trench boxes) and/or concrete quality, formwork, and curing standards.
  • Plan daily production, assign tasks, coordinate equipment and materials, and keep the crew productive.
  • Conduct documented daily safety briefings; exercise and support stop-work authority.
  • Complete accurate daily reports, time sheets, quantities, and quality documentation.
  • Train and mentor crew members; hold standards and foster craftsmanship.
  • Coordinate with inspectors, other trades, and the Superintendent on sequencing & issues. Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years progressive experience in heavy civil construction with substantial wet utility (water/sewer/storm) and/or structural concrete / site work.
  • 2+ years as a working or full Foreman leading crews.
  • Strong trench safety / competent-person knowledge and/or proven concrete quality & grade control with low rework.
  • Ability to read civil drawings, profiles, and specs.
  • Valid driver’s license; reliable transportation to MD / DC / NOVA / DE sites.
  • OSHA 30 preferred; excavation competent-person training required or obtainable within 90 days.
  • High school diploma or GED. Preferred Qualifications
  • Municipal / public-works experience (MDOT, WSSC, local counties, DC, VDOT, DelDOT).
  • Multi-discipline experience spanning both wet utilities and structural concrete.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus. Physical / Working Conditions
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, & pull up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 80 lbs occasionally.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, and work in and around excavations and active construction sites for extended periods.
  • Outdoor work year-round in all weather conditions across Maryland, D.C., Northern Virginia, and Delaware.
  • Travel between job sites is required on a regular basis.
