Key Responsibilities
- Lay concrete block, brick, and stone for walls, foundations, and structures
- Read blueprints and lay out patterns, courses, and bonds
- Mix mortar and apply to units with trowels
- Cut and shape masonry units with saws and chisels
- Ensure plumb, level, and square construction
- Install reinforcement, flashing, and weep systems
Typical Qualifications
- 2+ years of masonry experience, apprenticeship a plus
- Ability to read blueprints and lay out masonry work
- Physical stamina for lifting and working in various positions
- Skilled with trowels, levels, and masonry saws
- Knowledge of mortar mixing and bond patterns
Salary Range
$45,000 – $80,000+ with experienced and union masons earning premium rates. Specialty stonework and restoration masons often earn above $90,000.
